The interior of the children’s room affects the development of the child. If you design it correctly, it will help the baby grow in a joyful and comfortable atmosphere, develop creative abilities and form as a person.
How to zone a kids room
A children’s room is a place to sleep, play, study and store things. To make the room functional, you need to divide the space into three parts: sleep, game, and training zone. For the preschooler, the play area is a priority, and for older children, the learning area.
Game Zone
The playing area should be safe and interesting. Do not clutter this space with voluminous toys, it is better to make it free and give the child a place for creativity. In the play area, you can place a Swedish wall and a table for games with sand and water, cover the wall with slate paint. The more abstract the entertainment, the better the child’s imagination works and the more opportunities for games.
With slate paint, you can cover not only the wall but also the cabinet doors and the countertop. Such paint is also white — on it, you can draw with markers.
If space permits, organize a reading zone in the room: hang shelves at the eye level and put the children’s books facing forward. Color pictures will interest the child, he will want to consider them. Put soft pillows on the floor, and you get a place where you can comfortably sit down with a book in your hands.
Training area
To make it convenient for the child to engage, it is important to choose an ergonomic table, chair, and lighting. It is best to select such furniture so that it grows with the child: the bed becomes larger, and the table and chair — higher. The light should be bright and without sharp shadows — so eyes will be less tired. To help the student, you can hang a geographic map, subject tables, and reminder posters to help you put together your briefcase and do your homework.
When arranging a place for classes, it is important to take into account the individual characteristics of the child: how attentive and assiduous he is, whether he quickly picks up information, does he need reminders and illustrative examples. For example, if the child is not very diligent, you should not make a training zone opposite the window: he will often be distracted. For the same reason, all helper posters should be a little further from the workplace.
Sleeping place
A properly organized sleeping place can improve a child’s sleep. To do this, you need to choose a good mattress, pillow, bedding, and proper lighting.
The size of the bed should correspond to the height of the child (his legs should not rest against the back of the bed).
Choose pastel shades of satin, chintz or calico. It should be soft, without bright patterns. Colorful underwear can distract from sleep, and bright colors — to excite the nervous system.
Try to make the sleeping place comfortable so that the child likes to be there.
To get a good night’s sleep, 1.5-2 hours before bedtime, dim the lights in the apartment and close the windows with blackout curtains. The hormone melatonin, which is responsible for sleep, is produced only in the dark. So it is better to give up any light, including a night lamp, during sleep. Its light lowers melatonin levels, which is why children often wake up at night and feel tired in the morning. It is possible to use a red lamp. Such lighting does not inhibit the production of melatonin.
