While spring cleaning cannot cover every aspect of home maintenance, it should focus on repairing any areas that have been impacted by harsh winter weather.

However, homeowners should also conduct their own inspections, checking drains for debris buildup and ensuring that shingles are not discolored, missing, warping, or peeling. It is also important to inspect pipes and chimneys for animal nests and to repair any leaks in the roof.
Spring cleaning should also involve inspecting the concrete foundation for cracks and ensuring that there is no water logging or leakage around it. Walkways and stairs should be checked for cracks or damages, and railings should be stable. HVAC systems should be tuned up and checked, including measuring operating pressure, cleaning condenser coils, and checking controls. Outdoor areas such as decks and lawn furniture should also be inspected and repaired, with debris removed and damages addressed.
