Tea, coffee, wine, wax, ink – it seems that any object jeopardizes the purity of your home! Stains on furniture and carpeting are almost inevitable, but it’s much easier to cope with them at home than you might think.
Tip:
Try to apply the cleaning agent neatly to the stain and do not rub it so it does not smudge.
Key points:
The cleaning method depends on the type of contamination
Weak acids, such as vinegar and citric acid, are excellent for staining
It is very important to pre-test any cleaning agent or washing method on a small and subtle area of the surface
Oh, these spots! It seems that every liquid or food carries a threat to the cleanliness of your home, especially if the stains are on carpets, carpeting or upholstered furniture. Fortunately, most of them are not difficult to withdraw. You will need helpers or cleaners, a bit of patience and a little wit.
Different types of stains and ways to remove them:
There are many ways to control stains, but whatever means you choose, carefully read the instructions on the packages and test the effect of the product on a small and subtle area of the surface.
Traces of iron on the carpet
The stain from the hot iron is difficult to remove, but possible. Wipe the damaged area with a blunt metal object, then remove the trail with sandpaper. But be very careful not to wipe the hole in the carpet and, if necessary, ask for help from specialists.
Traces of wax
The universal favorite attribute of a romantic date can ruin a carpet or upholstered furniture. However, such stains can be removed with iron and blotting paper. Gently iron the wax through the paper, and the remaining grease is removed with a fat dissolving agent.
In the same way, you can get rid of the white traces left on the furniture after the hot cups or plates, but be very careful and make sure that your iron works in the most gentle mode.
Ink spots
Ink stains from upholstered furniture will help remove common alcohol or acetone, but do not forget to test its effect on a small and subtle area of the surface. To get rid of the smell after cleaning, wash this area with any cleaning agent that does not damage the upholstery of the furniture. The same way will help get rid of lipstick marks.
Spots from tea and coffee
To remove stains from the most popular beverages in the world, wipe them with a usual moist sponge, then treat the stain with a solution of citric acid. Another way to get rid of this stain is a soapy solution. Stains from chocolate can be removed in the same simple way.
Spots from fruit juices and jam
Stains from the juice will remove the solution of vinegar and ammonia. Apply soapy solution with the addition of vinegar on the stain from the tinned delicacies and sprinkle with salt. After the salt has absorbed the dirt, thoroughly clean and vacuum the surface.
Beer stains
To remove the spilled foam drink from your carpet or upholstered furniture, first pat it with a napkin, and then apply a weak vinegar solution (1 tablespoon per liter of water). Remove any residual liquid with a cloth or sponge.
Marker spots
The way to remove stains from the marker depends on its type. A trace from a water-based marker can often be removed with water and soap, and alcohol label with alcohol-containing liquids or acetone. The stain from the oil marker is removed with vegetable oil, which needs to gently rub the trail. If you encounter a stain from a permanent marker on the carpet or upholstery, add ammonia and detergent to the water (one tablespoon of each composition for 2 cups of water) and apply the solution to the stain. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse with water.
Removing stains from red wine from carpets
Stains from red wine should be cleaned immediately so that they do not stay forever. Blot the stain with a clean rag, apply a commercial stain remover and let it soak in, then wipe the stain with a sponge soaked in warm water.
You can also:
Use a solution of hydrogen peroxide and soda if you are dealing with light rugs. Let the medium soak for about five minutes, then rinse the stain with water.
Or use vinegar. Pour the stain with vinegar and sprinkle with detergent. Allow the medium to soak, then remove the excess with a gentle sponge soaked in water.
Before removing the stains, carefully read the instructions for care of furniture upholstery or carpet, so as not to damage them by cleaning agents! And, as always, do not forget to test their impact on a small and subtle area of the surface, taking all the safety measures recommended by the manufacturers.
