The light in the apartment affects how productively we work, how well we sleep, and how well we eat. When choosing lamps, you should focus on your own preferences, but there are physical and physiological patterns of light perception.
How many levels of lighting can be in the living room?
This room depends mostly on your specific needs. What are you going to do here? Meet guests, read, watch TV, play with children? In the living room, you should experiment and make several levels of lighting for different tasks and needs of all family members.
Lighting levels are divided into groups:
- The central light, in the form of chandeliers or several lamps, is responsible for uniform illumination of all parts of the room. It is needed when you clean or receives guests.
- Zone or local light can be near the sofa. It includes floor lamps and sconces.
- Accent light: illumination of paintings, decorative lamps, garlands.
- Spectacular lighting: for parties.
Why is cold light better for the work area?
In the work area (at the table or in the office) you need to be active, feel cheerful, and focused. The lighting temperature will contribute to this: warm – relaxes, cold – invigorates. Therefore, it is better to install light bulbs with a temperature of 4000-5000 K – these are used in offices.
For any work, the light must be diffused and even, with a minimum of shadows. The rule here is: “If you write with your right hand, the light should be on the left”. It is better that there are no blinding effects in the work area: this will tire the eyes. Therefore, be careful with glossy surfaces and adjust the height of the light to a comfortable level.
Under what lighting does the food look appetizing?
Lighting rules for the kitchen are the same as for the work area. For foods to look natural and appetizing, the color must be transmitted as accurately as possible. Therefore we choose lamps not less than 80 Ra/CRI. Another thing with the temperature of light: colder light – less attractive food. It is optimal to adhere to the temperature of natural light – 2700-3000 K.
A common mistake is to place the light source on the ceiling so that the person cooking is under it or in front of it. This results in light and shadow, which prevents you from seeing clearly what you are cooking. This can be fixed: install additional lights to illuminate the work surface.
What lamp do you need for the bedroom?
You need to rest in the bedroom, therefore, it is desirable to make a dim light. LED lines can delineate the space around the bed. It is not necessary to install a lamp on the ceiling above the bed, it will create discomfort for the eyes.
For those who enjoy reading, it is important to provide a spotlight with a soft diffused light. It can be a sconce or a lamp that can be turned. The third level of lighting – near the mirror or dressing table.
In the bedroom and other areas where you are after waking up (hallway, bathroom), it is important to provide a level of soft lighting, because harsh light causes stress.
For orientation can be appropriate paths in the aisles, for them, you can turn on motion sensors and nightlights on the bedside tables.
How to organize lighting in the child room?
The children’s room must be safe, luminaires must be as shock-resistant as possible. Sometimes in children’s rooms use anti-vandal lamps designed for street lighting, because they are made of durable fiberglass.
In rooms for babies, it is better to use lamps on 12 or 24 volts.
In the nursery should provide several levels of lighting: for learning, playing, reading. A central light from the ceiling is needed for the child to play on the floor. If the child is reading a book – it needs a floor lamp, if doing homework – zone lighting for the table.
